Java 7 Launch Event

On July 7th, the Java User Group Macedonia organized a massive event to celebrate the launch of the new version of the Java platform. Guest speaker was Simon Ritter from Oracle.
The business hall on the Skopje Fair was too small to accommodate the interested developers, students and business people, so all 160 seats were filled quickly. The registration on the www.java7macedonia.com website filled up in as little as 2 days.
The agenda of the event was simple, first yours truly, Ice Penov, had a blast presenting the brief history of the Java User Group, showing pictures from earliest meetings when a bunch of geeks gathered around and started the community initiative.
The guest star however was Simon Ritter from Oracle, presenting the new features of the Java 7 platform as well as outlining the plans of the JCP led by Oracle for the release of the next version, as early as the next year.
After the presentation, as a Java User Group we performed our usual ritual, going for a lots of beer in the local Pub, where we stayed until late hours discussing and fighting over technologies and frameworks :)
